About Fairy / Faery / Faerie Festivals
What Happens at a Faerie Festival?
A faerie festival is a magical, family-friendly event that celebrates folklore, nature, creativity, and imagination. Whether you're a lifelong faerie lover or just discovering this enchanting world, there’s something for everyone. At a typical faerie festival, you can expect:
-
Live music and whimsical performances from folk bands, storytellers, drummers, and dancers.
-
Stalls and artisan markets offering handmade crafts, fairy wings, natural skincare, crystals, costumes, and magical gifts.
-
Workshops and activities for all ages—learn how to craft a wand, paint your own faerie mask, or join a guided nature walk.
-
Interactive children’s entertainment, including puppet shows, treasure hunts, and faerie-themed games.
-
Costume parades and contests where visitors dress as fairies, elves, woodland creatures, and mythical beings.
-
Wellbeing zones featuring yoga, meditation, and holistic healing sessions for those seeking peace and connection.
-
Delicious food stalls and vegan-friendly treats, often with a magical twist!
Every faerie festival is a little different, but they all celebrate community, creativity, and connection with the natural world. It’s a chance to unplug, dress up, and step into a storybook for a day or even a whole weekend.
Is Faerie/Faery the Same as Fairy?
Great question! While "faerie" and "fairy" are often used interchangeably, there are subtle differences:
-
Fairy is the modern English spelling and is commonly used in children’s books, media, and popular culture.
-
Faerie (or "Faery") is an older, more mystical spelling often associated with ancient folklore, Celtic mythology, and fantasy literature.
At our Faerie Festival, we embrace the magical roots of the word faerie, which evokes the mysterious, earthy, and enchanting spirit of the fae realm. It’s not just about sparkles and wings—it’s about honoring the wild, whimsical, and natural magic of the world around us.
So whether you say fairy festival or faerie festival, you're welcome to step into the magic!
What Time Does the Faerie Festival Start?

There are no rules, only magic! Dressing up is one of the most exciting parts of attending a faerie festival, and everyone is encouraged to join in. Whether you’re a sparkle fairy, a woodland elf, a flower nymph, or a steampunk pixie, your imagination is the limit. Here are some ideas:
-
Fairy wings, flower crowns, glitter and face paint

Elf ears, horns, cloaks and leatherwork for fantasy creatures
-
DIY costumes using upcycled or sustainable materials
-
Comfortable shoes—you’ll be wandering through fields, forests, or festival grounds!
-
Don’t worry if you don’t have a costume—many of our stalls sell beautiful handmade items so you can build your look on the day. Whether you go full fae or just add a touch of sparkle, everyone is welcome.
